![]() ![]() With balls going at speeds of Mach 1, it's no wonder that the entire sport was banned. In fact, someone was even killed during one game, causing the ban in the first place. Boring, but Practical: Bunting, which strikes the ball back into its neutral phase and temporarily slows it down a bit. While it doesn't really add any power to the ball, it will come in handy when it's going at near the speed of sound and you need to slow it down unless you want to get KO'd. Breath Weapon: Latch's special shot, sort of.Īnd in Blaze, it will also tag it into your color, making it your own.He basically eats the ball and then spits it back out from a location of his choice. Cane Fu: Candyman uses his cane to hit the ball.Charged Attack: Holding down the swing button charges up the player's attack.Successfully hitting the ball with a fully charged swing doubles the speed of the ball and drastically reduces the time before the ball fires out of your hands. You can release the swing early for a lesser effect. Charge Meter: The twin meters you see beside the MPH counter determines when a hit ball will move after a time-stopping hit happens when they fill, the ball fires. This is very important to pay attention to especially against Doombox since the ball can become so fast that it's otherwise impossible to hit on purpose. When hitting the ball at ludicrous speeds, the stage's colors will invert while it gains its momentum again. Then, if you hit the ball at really ludicrous speeds (as in one million MPH), the stage blacks out, leaving only the players and the ball. Cool Board: Switch's main weapon and also his means of movement. He can skate up the walls and the top screen. Death Throws: Any knockout results in this for the knocked-out character. In the sequel, nearly everyone note can now double jump.Double Unlock: When you unlock something in the sequel (like Switch's Workerbot skin for instance), you still need to pay up for it with in-game credits in order to actually use it, the sole exception being Dice's Domino the Cursed skin, due to the rather.TL DR: Easiest character to learn the game with, this is normal. I say 1/4 and not 1/5 because I expect some people will stick with him because it's easier to continue progressing with one character than branching out and experimenting with the rest, especially if they're winning games. You'll probably see Candyman mains drop down to about 1/4 once people try out all the other characters and choose one that fits their playstyle instead of just the one that is the easiest to learn with. I think I have about a 50% win rate against him in the hands of really good players. Go to the steam community chat, play a few rounds against the people there and you'll see a pretty even split of characters amongst them. I don't think Candyman is weaker or stronger than other characters, he's just the absolute easiest to get used to and play moderately well. A new player could not, for example, properly utilize Sonata or Switch's special at all in the same way a new player could properly utilize Candyman's special. I'm talking specifically about new player vs new player here, good Candyman players absolutely try and do specific angles at certain times in order to use the ability to the fullest. No planning where you're going to send the ball (Sonata), figuring out which other direction you want to send the ball (Raptor), setting up for an unpredictable spit (Latch) or timing a flipkick to return a ball at high speeds without getting hit (Switch), just fire 'n forget at some point and hope for the best That's incredibly easy to grasp and utilize. No wall-climbing, ceiling-skating, double-jumping or wall-jumping, just jumps really high. His movement mechanic is the easiest in the game by far. Sidenote: I wonder how many new players started up their first game with Switch, did an upward hit and went "WTF JUST HAPPENED?" His angles are pretty simple, and especially on a downward strike you can easily retake your ball at low speeds with little effort. I'm with Vertiguous here, Candyman is extremely newbie-friendly. ![]()
